Honoring the Life of Richard Buckman March 27th Several organizations in our community are coming together to honor the life and legacy of Richard “Rich” Buckman, a respected recovery advocate whose work touched many lives across Long Island and New York.
January doesn’t have to be about dramatic resolutions or instant transformation. Often, the most meaningful progress comes from small changes, starting fresh, revisiting what matters, and remember we can begin again any moment.
As we close out the year, we want to pause and say thank you for trusting LECSA, for showing up for your members, your coworkers, and your communities. For continuing to choose connection, even during demanding seasons. Our work exists because people do, and we’re grateful to walk alongside you.
As we gather around tables with loved ones and reflect on all we have to be thankful for, the team here at LECSA wants to pause and say: we see you. We appreciate you. Thank you to our members, our referral sources, and our broader community for trusting us, connecting with us, and allowing us to walk alongside you in support and care. Your work, your resilience, your humanity: it matters.
If you or someone you know is struggling with grocery costs, there are local programs that can help stretch food dollars beyond SNAP benefits. We wanted to share some information about SNAP Benefit Alternatives on Long Island. If you’re facing food insecurity, we’ve compiled a list of resources that can help you find alternative food options.
We hope you had a meaningful Labor Day, taking a moment to recognize the contributions of workers and the value of rest. September always feels like a restart—a season of fresh notebooks, new routines, and renewed intentions. It’s also a month of reflection and awareness, as we honor National Recovery Month, National Suicide Awareness Month, and the busyness of back-to-school life.
We hope this message finds you well and that your summer has blossomed with brightness, warmth, and a touch of well-deserved ease. As July unfolds, bringing with it those cherished long afternoons, the sizzle of backyard barbecues, and golden evenings filled with laughter, we’re reminded of nature’s gentle encouragement to pause, savor, and recharge.
As summer settles in, June brings important opportunities to reflect, connect, and take proactive steps toward our well-being. It’s Men’s Health Month, Pride Month, and a season where many of us finally catch our breath. At LECSA, we’re proud to walk alongside our EAP members and community partners—offering support that meets the moment, whatever that looks like for you.
May 13th, we are beyond proud to celebrate Millie’s 6-year anniversary with LECSA. Millie’s commitment to our mission, her tireless energy, and her ability to lead with heart have left an unforgettable mark on our team and the communities we serve.
As we step into April, we reflect on the first quarter of the year—three months of hard work, resilience, and progress. Whether you’ve supported a coworker, tackled a personal goal, or made it through the daily grind, take a moment to acknowledge your efforts. You’re building a better tomorrow, one step at a time.
We hope this month's newsletter finds you well. Over the next few months, we'll be implementing a few updates - consider it a spring cleaning! You'll notice changes to our branding, website, and even these newsletters. Our goal is to transform the website into a more valuable tool for all of our clients, partners, and communities, filled with useful and easily accessible information.
